SC rejects Petition against Sasikala's Swearing-in

Update: 2017-02-10 13:17 GMT
Supreme Court Today quashed a petition seeking a stay on the swearin-in ceremony of VK Sasikala Natarajan as CM of Tamil Nadu. Petitioner Senthil Kumar stressed the possibility of riots in Tamil Nadu if Sasikala was forced to resign after being sworn-in as CM in case Supreme Court overturns the Karnataka HC Order acquitting her from disproportionate assets case.

Governor C Vidyasagar Rao is taking his time to ask Sasikala and Panneerselvam to show their strength in the floors of the Assembly. After his meeting with Governor, O Panneerselvam assured, 'Good things will follow, Dharma will prevail'. As per media reports, Governor has assured Sasikala that she would be the first to receive invitation to form the Government.

Meanwhile, Sasikala sacked AIADMK Presidium Chairman E Madhusudhanan from the party after he shifted loyalty to Panneerselvam.

Governor might ask for Central Forces to step in if the situation remains hostile in Tamil Nadu.
