Supreme Court issued notices to Telangana Speaker and MLAs who defected to ruling TRS after 2014 elections asking them to file their reply on the allegations of violating anti-defection laws.

Advocate Jandhyala Ravi Shankar moved Supreme Court complaining that the conduct of defected MLAs doesn't adhere with the spirit of the constitution. Pointing that TRS have won only 63 MLAs in 2014 polls, He accused the State Government of paving red carpet for Opposition Legislators and that's how its strength gone up to 89 by now.

The Petitioner alleged Speaker hasn't taken appropriate action on the defections inspite of several petitions seeking disqualification of those MLAs.

SC bench headed by Justice Kurian Joseph issued notices to Speaker and Defected MLAs to file their counter within three weeks.
