Odisha Government challenged National Status to Polavaram Project in Supreme Court. It also complained that several villages in Malkangiri district will be submerged if Polavaram was completed. The Apex Court Today admitted the petition and served notices to the Telugu States seeking their replies within four weeks.
Odisha Government's Counsel Radheshyam Jena said Supreme Court issued notices on Friday based on its application challenging Section 90 of AP Reorganisation Act 2014. He informed the petition seeks making of Telangana and Chhattigarh as parties in the case.
Already, Karnataka and Maharashtra were made parties in the case. The next hearing of the case is scheduled six weeks later.

Even Nabard assured release of sufficient funds for the construction of the multi-purpose project from October this year.
