Supreme Court sacks Anurag Thakur as BCCI Chief

Supreme Court on Monday sacked Anurag Thakur and Ajay Shirke from the posts of BCCI President & Secretary for failing to implement Justice Lodha Committee recommendations despite repeated warnings.

While announcing the decision, The Apex Court asked why Anurag Thakur shouldn't be prosecuted for not complying with its order. A reply has been sought from the ousted BCCI Chief in this regard.

SC observed that neither BCCI nor Cricket Associations of respective States failed to implement Lodha Committee recommendations meant to bring accountability and transparency.

Fali Nariman and SC Advocate Gopal Subramanium have been appointed as AMicus Curiae to figure out who would replace Anurag Thakur and Ajay Shirke for the BCCI top posts.
