Every survey that is conducted in Telangana on the poll prospects in the 2023 elections is saying that while the TRS is going down in terms of popularity, it is still the No 1 party in the state. Surveys by Team PK, two teams from Delhi and a new survey agency - TS 119 - have said the same thing. The TRS could still be the No 1 party but with a greatly reduced majority.
The TS 119 says that the TRS is quite strong in 35 seats and has a tough fight on chards in 35 others. Interestingly, most of the surveys say that the Congress, not the BJP is in the second position. Despite all the efforts by the BJP, the party is still in the third position. The TS 119 survey said that the Congress will have it easy in 22 seats, while the BJP can have a facile win in 18 seats. In 35 seats, all the three parties are evenly poised, says the survey.
According to the TS119 survey, in these 35 seats, where a tough fight is predicted, the BJP could be a close third. The survey analysed that both the Congress and the TRS have a strong booth level presence, which the BJP does not have. Another major offsetting factor for the BJP is that the party does not have strong candidates in many places, says the survey.
It remains to be seen how the BJP will overcome these obstacles. The party sources too admit that the party is suffering from paucity of winning horses. How the BJP will tackle the issue remains to be seen.
