The Telangana wing of Congress which wants to strengthen the party in the state and bring back the glory to the party is eyeing the Huzurabad by-elections as a big platform to do so. Despite the other parties announcing their candidates, Congress didn't make any moves in this regard.
To end the speculation game, the Congress party had announced Balamuri Venkat, the current President of the National Students' Union of India(NSUI). The ruling TRS had also announced a student wing leader as the party candidate.
Media reports say that the idea to pick Balamuri Venkat as the party candidate was Bhatti Vikramarka's. With the suggestion coming from a senior Congress leader, the T-Congress is said to have responded to this in a positive way and confirmed the suggestion.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Revanth Reddy was satisfied with the suggestion of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Bhatti Vikramarka opted for Venkat over other suggestions.
On the other hand, the Congress leaders from the Karimnagar district have reportedly suggested the names of Jeevan Reddy, and Sridhar Babu. After a brainstorming exercise, the T-congress led by Revanth Reddy had zeroed on Balamuri Venkat.
