Earlier in April, the Telangana government has imposed a night curfew in the state to contain the virus spread. The night curfew was again extended after the High Court asked the state government to take a call on the preventive measures.

With the ongoing night curfew coming to an end on the 8th of this month, the Telangana High Court took up the petition on the prevailing Covid-19 situations for the hearing on Wednesday.

DGP Mahender Reddy and Public Health Officer Srinivas Rao appeared for the hearing on the behalf of the Telangana government.

As per the media reports, the High Court asked why the government is not conducting more tests and said, the night curfew was imposed by the government to shed off its responsibility.

Asking why the cases are not reduced even after night curfew was imposed in the state, the High Court suggested the increase in curfew timings. Why is the government not thinking about lockdown? Take a call on the weekend lockdown before the 8th of this month. Data on the availability of hospital beds and oxygen in government hospitals should be submitted, the court said.'

During the hearing, the High Court asked how much demand is there for oxygen in the state. Replying to the question, PHO Srinivas Rao said, there is a demand of 600 metric tons of oxygen and the Centre has supplied 430 metric tons of oxygen.
