Today, Tamil Nadu State Government who imposed double tax on movies have decided to regulate the prices of parking at the theatres and man pioneering the fight against the price hike, Vishal tweeted this happy news. He shared,
"Delighted to share this Good News !!!
TN State Govt regulates Parking rates in Theaters....
Car - Rs. 20
2-wheeler - Rs 10
Cycle - Free"
According to this, people who would like to go and watch the movies at theatres will not have to pay exorbitant prices for parking too along with Tickets. Well, even though Tamil Nadu theatres charge 160 to 170 to accomodate GST and additional municipal taxes, the regulations on parking fees is a good starting point for people to show up at the theatres.
Now, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, the number of malls and multiplexes are increasing exponentially. With that the parking rates are also increasing. Malls demand parking rates at hourly basis and the minimum has been 30/- for parking at Multiplexes too. Even for bikes it is upto 25/- and this purely extortion from film lovers who like to watch films as weekend fun exercise.
With such prices and non -regulated increase in beverages cost, even common water is being sold at unprecedented amounts at the multiplexes and single screens too. The toilet maintenance has been the worst in many but they take maintenance tax without any shame. The Governments have been active in granting price hikes but they should think about common public too who come to enjoy movies but not to give loot to theatre owners and Government for three hours of fun. Please, Telugu Governments think about theatre going audience too.
