Iron Lady to give back Amarvati Sculptures

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa have categorically agreed to handover the ancient sculptures & monuments of Amaravati in the possession of Tamil Nadu Government to Andhra Pradesh.

On October 30th, Amaravati Development Authority (ADA) chief Jasti Veeranjaneyulu wrote a letter to Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa seeking return of hundreds of Amaravati sculptures & monuments in the National Museum at Chennai. All of these sculptures, which were a symbol of Buddhist era, were brought to Chennai by the Britishers during the period it used to be their capital city.

AP Government have plans to set up a state museum consisting of ancient sculptures and monuments reflecting Telugu culture & tradition in Amaravati. The task ahead is to make AP Capital a major tourist attraction in the country on or before 2024.
