Tamilisai's Praja Durbar from June 10 : It's Raj Bhavan vs Pragathi Bhavan

Update: 2022-06-09 05:14 GMT
Even as KCR is planning to soften his approach towards Governor Tamilisai Saundararajan, the governor seems to be in no mood to relent. She has decided to up her ante and is planning to hold praja durbars from June 10.The first such durbar would be a Mahila Durbar, where the Governor will focus on the women's problems. The Mahila durbar assumes significance in view of the gangrape of a Romanian girl by VIP wards and several such incidents of gender abuse.

Interestingly, the Governor planned to hold Praja Durbars after her relations with Chief Minister KCR soured. She has even appointed staff and got a web portal developed for the purpose. However, it was put in cold storage during the Covid surge. But, now, the governor feels it is about time to hold Praja Durbars on various issues. This decision is likely to be a thorn in the relations between the CM and the Raj Bhavan.

The Governor openly differed with the TRS government in the past too. In fact, she slammed the TRS government's handling of the Covid. In fact, she was the first leader to visit the hospitals during the Covid lockdown and review the arrangements for handling the pandemic. She raised several questions about the way the TRS government was handling the pandemic.

On the issue of the nomination of Padi Kaushik Reddy as the MLC through Govenor's quota too, Tamilisai differed with the government. She kept the file pending and sought to know from the government as to what were the credentials and contribution of Kaushik Reddy to get nominated for 'public service.' With the Praja Durbar, differences are likely to grow further between the Raj Bhavan and the Pragathi Bhavan.
