TCS Not Anti-American: US Jury

A California Jury ruled Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) didn't discriminate against non-South Asian Workers in the US. As per the verdict of 9-member jury, TCS doesn't have a pattern or practice of deliberately discriminating against Non-South Asian Workers due to their race or national origin. This unanimous decision by the Jury is a major victory for Indian IT Industry.

Three Former TCS Employees (Christopher Slaight, Seyed Amir Masoudi and Nobel Mandili) filed the Lawsuit against TCS complaining discrimination. They argued TCS has fired less than 1 percent of its South Asian Employees (mostly Indians) as against 10.6 percent of its Non-South Asian Employees. Lawsuit alleges TCS removed 78 percent of its Non-South Asian Workers between 2011 to 2014 as against 22 percent of South Asians.

TCS maintained it has actually hired more US Nationals and the percentage has increased from 69 percent to 82 percent year-by-year. The Company showed proof for 400 percent increase in the number of US Nationals it hired since 2011. In addition, A clarification was issued that most of the workers who complained about discrimination were actually fired for refusing to relocate for a job. Trial which began on November 5th ended with the verdict delivered in favour of TCS.
