Early polls mean only early birds will have the advantage. So, the Congress, determined to oust the TRS government in Telangana, wants to act early and be an early bird. The Congress very badly wants to stage a comeback in Telangana. In fact, Telangana is the only state in South India apart form Karnataka, where it hopes to form a government. So, both the leaders and the High Command are pitting their energies to win in Telangana. If KCR comes back to power, it would virtually finish off the political careers of many a Congress politician. So, they are straining their every nerve to defeat KCr.
The Congress very well knows that it cannot fight the TRS alone. It needs allies. Both the high command and the local leadership knows this fact. So they are trying to join hands with non-TRS parties. One such part is the one led by Prof. Kodandaram. Talks are on with Prof. Kodandaram's party over seat adjustments. Another party with whom the Congress is in talks is the TDP. Chandrababu Naidu is still in two minds whether to openly align with the Congress or have some indirect arrangement. Arrangements with one of the Left parties is said to be complete and talks are on with the other party.
The Congress is trying everything it can to ensure that anti-TRS votes are not split. The Congress strongly feels that if these pacts are properly worked out, then it can put KCR on the mat.
