There is a growing demand among the TDP cadres to replace some big names, who have become totally inactive after losing the 2019 elections. They have become so inactive that they are not even organising party workers' meet. The biggest problem is that there are two such leadr who are inactive in Krishna district, the home turf TDP founder NTR. They are inactive in a district considered TDP citadel.
Uppuleti Kalpana is one such leader. Kalpana fought and lost from Pamarru in 2009. In 2014, she shifted to the YSRCP and won over TDP's Varla Ramaiah. She then joined the TDP, which was in power. In 2019, she contested on the TDP ticket and lost. Since then, she is very inactive. She has not held a press conference. No party workers meet was organised at all. She did not hold even a single protest programme against the ruling YSRCP.
Ditto with Muddaraboyina Venkateshwara Rao of Nuzvid. He had won from Gannavaram as an independent and later joined the TDP. In both 2014 and 2019, he has contested on TDP ticket from Nuzvid. However , on both occasions, he lost to the YSRCP's Meka Venkata Pratap Appa Rao. Since his defeat, he has done practically nothing to revive the party in Nuzvid. The party is still very weak in Nuzvid.
TDP leaders feel he is most uninspiring leader and want him to replace him. They feel that a dynamic, young and energetic leader is the need of the hour in Nuzvid. If Muddaraboyina is given party ticket again, the TDP is sure to lose, they argue. Let's wait and see what the party bosses will do?
