TDP leader fights against liquor, his follower sells illicit booze

In a huge embarrassment to the Opposition TDP, a staunch supporter of the TDP leader, who is most active in the anti-liquor policy agitations, was arrested while selling illegal liquor. He was caught red-handed while selling liquor in a secret place that he got from Goa. The container was seized. The arrested person is identified as Shakamuri Babu Surendra.

Surendra is the president of the Tenali rural mandal Telugu Yuvatha president and is from Burripalem. He is known to be a close camp follower of former Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad. Incidentally, Alapati Rajendra Prasad is in the forefront of the agitation against the YSRCP's liquor policy. He has even courted arrest on the issue.

But his follower Surendra brought a container full of liquor from Goa. Is friends Vempati Venubabu, Jasti Satish and G Bapanaiah Chowdary have begun selling the liquor secretly near Reddypalem. They were caught in a decoy operation by the police. The police seized 2800 bottles stored in 174 boxes. Interestingly, the arrest came at a time when the former MLA was leading an agitation of women against Jagan's liquor policy.

Surendra has a several cases booked against him. He has a case of illicit liquor sale against him in 2020. Similarly, he is accused in a murder case. There are allegations that he supplies illegal liquor to several hotels in Guntur town.
