Ragupathy Kandasamy, a techie, who came to his home town Coimbatore from US to meet a prospective bride died on last Friday after crashing into a temporary hoarding established on the road by ruling AIADMK for MGR Centenary Celebrations. A truck ran him over when the 30-year-old fell from the bike after hitting the hoarding. He wasn't wearing helmet at the time of accident.
Hours after the accident, Unidentified people painted 'Who killed Raghu?' at the accident spot. This sparked an outrage on the social media. Protesters allege the hoarding has covered 30 percent of Avinashi road.
Local MLA K Krishnan moved a petition in Madras High Court seeking order to remove all the hoardings in Coimbatore. He demanded ex-gratia for the family of Raghu.
DMK Working President MK Stalin alleged AIADMK Government violated High Court order on hoardings and it eventually led to the death of Raghu.
Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner passed order to remove all hoardings which doesn't have permission.
