The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana arrested Tehsildar V Lavanya for amassing huge wealth misusing her position.
Reportedly, A Farmer by name M Bhaskar complained to Anti-Corruption Wing against VRO of Dattayapally Village Antaiah who demanded Rs 8 lakh bribe for updating his land record online. While Rs 5 lakh was for the VRO himself, Remaining Rs 3 lakh was for the Tehsildar of Keshampet in Ranga Reddy district. ACB caught the VRO Red-Handed while he was accepting Rs 4 lakh bribe from the Complainant.
After VRO's Arrest, Searches were conducted at the office and residence of Tehsildar Lavanya. During the raid, Rs 93.5 lakh of cash and 420 grams of gold was seized from her Hyathnagar residence.
What came as a shock to many is the fact that Lavanya was the recipient of Best Tehsildar Award from the State Government. She, however, denied the corruption charges levelled against her inspite of getting caught with huge amount of unaccounted cash.
