Telangana BJP poaching from Revanth Reddy's backyard

Update: 2022-04-10 06:27 GMT
In what could be seen as a major shock to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy, a prominent leader of the party from his home district is all set to leave the Congress Party and join the BJP. This is being seen as a personal loss of face to Revanth Reddy at a time when he is trying to assert himself as the sole leader of the party in Telangana.

Party's general secretary and prominent advocate SP Venkatesh is all set to join the BJP. On Saturday, senior BJP leaders DK Aruna and Eatala Rajender went over to his residence and had a chat with him. Of late, Venkatesh is quite inactive in the Congress party affairs. Sources say he has given his nod to join the BJP soon.

Venkatesh was known for waging political agitations against the TRS government. He led several fights from the front. However, he is said to have been disappointed with the lukewarm response from the party leadership. Meanwhile, he reportedly faced harassment from the ruling TRS circles and found that the Congress leadership had not come to his aid. Since then, he has been mulling leaving the party.

The political circles say this is a loss for Revanth Reddy, who is focusing mainly on improving the party in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. The resignation of such a senior leader, known for his fighting skills, is being seen as a great setback for the party. If sources are to be believed, more leaders are likely to resign from the Congress Party.
