CLP Merger With TRS? Justice Sought In High Court!

As many as 11 Congress MLAs defected to Ruling TRS in the past few months. Speculations are abuzz that these Legislators are mulling to appeal Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to merge Congress Legislature Party (CLP) with the Ruling TRS.

Telangana PCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and CLP Leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka moved a petition in the Hyderabad High Court seeking direction to Speaker not to issue order permitting CLP merger with TRS till the petitions demanding defector MLAs disqualification is disposed. In addition, An appeal was made to the High Court to direct the Speaker to issue notice to the Congress Party before the merger of CLP.

In 2018 Assembly Polls, Congress won 19 out of 119 seats in Telangana. 11 of them had already migrated to the Ruling TRS and Congress is on the verge of losing Main Opposition status in the Assembly.

Uttam Kumar Reddy told Speaker doesn't have the authority to merge the Legislature Wing of a party with with another party. The next 5 years is going to be very tough for the National Party.
