The time for the defections and floor-crossing has begun in Telangana. Now that the elections are over and the political contours are clear, several opposition politicians might switch over to the TRS.
The TRS has virtually decimated the Congress and all its senior leaders have simply been defeated. The Congress leaders are completely down and dispirited now. Already, several independents who have won the elections, have approached the TRS and offered to join the party. Chander of Ramagundam and Ramulu Naik, who have won as independents, have joined the TRS taking its tally to 90.
On the other hand, several Congress leaders are planning to bid good bye to the party. They are doing it to ensure that their wards have better politics. For instance, there are strong rumours that Jana Reddy might either join the TRS or make his son Raghuveer Reddy join the party. In fact, KCR had in the past invited Jana Reddy to join the TRS. Though Jana Reddy has not accepted the offer then, he might take it now.
Jana Reddy has been defeated from Nagarjunasagar this time. More leaders might follow Jana Reddy, reports say.
Last time also, the TRS, which had won 63 seats, had lured several MLAs from both Telugu Desam and the Congress and increased his tally to 90. This time, he had already crossed 90 and is set to increase further.
