Today marks the eighth state formation day of Telangana, the 29th state of India. On June 2, 2014, Telangana was carved out of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, The long demand for a separate statehood became true after several years of protests. Several people had lost their lives.
On this occasion, TRS chief, Telangana Chief Minister KCR visited the martyrs memorial at the Gun park and paid rich tributes to the heroes, who sacrificed their lives in achieving the decade-long dream.
Taking part in the celebrations, the Chief Minister hoisted the National Flag at the Pragathi Bhavan. In the wake of Covid-19 protocols, the formation day celebrations will be a low-key affair.
In a tweet, the Telangana CMO said, the state pays homage to the martyrs of the statehood movement. The CMO said, in the last seven years, Telangana excelled as a pride of the nation and serve as a role model to the other states.'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Telangana Governor Soundararajan extended their wishes on the occasion.
"Best wishes to the people of Telangana on the state's Formation Day. The state is blessed with a unique culture and hardworking people who have excelled in many areas. Praying for the good health and wellbeing of the people of Telangana," Narendra Modi tweeted.
