Telangana Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav launched an online booking portal (https://tsboxoffice.in) for booking movie tickets.

A Single Window Platform for all Cinema Halls and Online Ticketing Websites is the first of it's kind in India. Telangana State Film Development Corporation Ltd will be operating this portal to maintain transparency in tickets sale and increase the entertainment tax collection.

Government ordered all the Cinema Halls to register with this online booking portal quickly to kickstart their operations. Online registration process begins on Saturday. The plan is to make registrations compulsory for all the single screens and multiplexes in the state anytime soon. Tickets will be allowed to sell online through this portal to maintain transparency.

Until now, Private Online Ticketing Agencies have been collecting Rs 10 per ticket as service charge, and it's been shared equally by Agencies and Exhibitors. From now, Government will charge Rs 6 per ticket, whereas Exhibitors and TSFDC gets Rs 4 and Rs 2 per ticket respectively. Exhibitors could no more evade entertainment tax after the launch of this online portal.
