Forget about 'Bagaru' Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was unable to stop the numerous farmer suicides happening in the state. The Youngest State in the country bagged No.2 Position in terms of No. of Suicides.
As per National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) Study 2015, Telangana is only next to Maharashtra when it comes to the suicides of Farmers. Maharashtra topped the list with 3,030 farmer suicides. While Telangana is at 2nd spot with 1,358 suicides, Kartnataka, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are at 3rd, 4th & 5th positions with 1197, 854 and 581 suicides respectively. AP is at 6th spot with 561 suicides. Total no. of farmer suicides in the country stood at 8,007. Out of them, 7,566 are Men and 441 are Women.
In fact, Telangana and AP retained their spots. Even in 2014, They were at 2nd (898 suicides) and 6th (160 suicides) positions.
160 out of 1,358 suicides in Telangana are due to illness. Actually, 79 out of 160 suicides of large farmers in the country were reported in Telangana itself. Bankrupty and Farming Related Issues are the major reasons behind the suicides.
