Telangana reports high single-day infections with 2,478 cases

After a few states reported a spike in fresh Covid-19 cases, it's the turn of Telangana to see a surge in pandemic infections. The state added nearly 2,500 new infections on Friday.

On April 9, Telangana witnessed 2,478 new Covid-19 cases, the highest surge in months. With the new addition of cases, the total caseload of the state has mounted to 3,21,182.

Telangana reported the previous highest cases on Thursday with as many as 2,055 new Coronavirus infections. Compared to the previous day, Telangana saw a rise in single-day cases by over 400.

In the past 24 hours, five people breathed their last battling the respiratory disease, which takes the total number of casualties related to the Covid-19 in the state to 1,746. The state's mortality rate stood at 0.54 percent. With the rise in infections, the active Corona case has risen to 15,472.

Looking at the Coronavirus recoveries in the state, a total of 3,03,964 patients have been declared cured and discharged from the hospitals accordingly. The total recoveries include the fresh recoveries 363 recorded in the last 24 hours.

Hyderabad recorded the highest number of infections in the past 24 hours with 402 infections followed by Medchal Malkajgiri(208), Rangareddy(162), Nizamabad(176), Nirmal(111), and Jagtiyal (105).
