Actually, Khanapur village got submerged due to Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) reservoir built on river Godavari. Upon knowing about the plight of people living in 278 houses in the village, Kavitha took necessary measures for their rehabilitation at a nearby location. She even responded positively to the request of constructing two-bedroom houses for all the 274 households in the new place.

As a result, Khanapur villagers passed a resolution to rechristen the village as Kavithapuram. However, The village continue to called Khanapur till a notification is issued.
