Update: 2017-09-15 06:45 GMT
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao made Telugu Teaching from Class 1 to Intermediate Mandatory in all the Educational Institutions. This include Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE, ICSE and International Schools.

The announcement created a lot of confusion among Managements of Institutions, Students and Parents. They expressed the doubt how could Students who haven't studied Telugu so far learn it all of sudden and pass the examination.

Majority of the CBSE and ICSE Schools teach Telugu as Second Language. But, Telugu wasn't taught in few Educational Institutions following Central Syllabus and International Curriculum. Responding to the concerns expressed by people, Telangana Government clarified Students who aren't learning Telugu until now needn't have to face any examination. They just need to learn basics of the language. Whereas, Students who are already familiar with the language will have to pass the examination.
