The Telugu regional parties may rave and rant, but in the final analysis, they are not in a position to take on the BJP on the issue of Budget. Despite their comments that the AP and Telangana have been ignored in the budgetary allocations, all these regional parties may finally either vote in support of the Central Government or simply stay away from the voting.
The YSRCP did not even criticize the Central Government. It played safe. Except for demanding a great relaxation in the FRBM regulations so that the State could borrow more, the party has not said anything. The TDP on the other hand, has only made a veiled attack. Chandrababu Naidu spent more time criticizing the ineptitude of the YSRCP, which as 22 MPs in the Lok Sabha, in protecting the state's interests.
The other regional party in AP, the Jana Sena of Pawan Kalyan, is completely silent on the budgetary allocations. The party did not even address a press conference to spell out its stand. As a result, all the four major players in AP have indirectly backed the Modi budget for 2022.
In Telangana, however, KCR was all fire and brimstone. But, even he dilly dallied on the issue of addressing a press conference. Initially, a circular went that KCR would address the media. Hours later, another circular announced that the press meet was put off. Soon, a third circular came saying that the press conference would stay. Why this dilly-dallying? Well! No one knows.
