The efforts made by the Telangana capital Hyderabad helped it bag the prestigious award for two consecutive years. Hyderabad was awarded the 'Tree City of the World' for the current year given the rise in the green cover in the city. Hyderabad received the award in 2021 as well.
A body of the United Nations gives the award by looking at various cities across the world. Cities from more than 100 countries were considered for the award but pearl city had managed to make it to the top.
It is a collective effort of authorities, government, and common people that Hyderabad was given the 'Tree City of the World' award. However, the Green India challenge started by TRS MP Joginpally Santosh Kumar needs a special mention here. Through his challenge, the TRS leader has been raising awareness of the importance of having plants and trees.
So far, many celebrities across the industries and fields have planted trees and posed the challenge to others and the cycle goes on. Looking at the celebrities, the common people also started to plant saplings and have plants in their homes.
On top of this, the TRS Government had conducted a special drive on planting saplings across Telangana marking the occasion of the birthday of KCR, Chief Minister and founder chief of the party.
