Remember the “Cycle Girl” who cycled 1200 km with her father sitting in the rear seat during the last year's lockdown?  Jyothi Paswan created quite a flutter when she and her father , who had fractured his leg, cycled all the way from Darbhanga in Bihar to Gurugram near Delhi. She cycled all the way to ensure that the landlord would not turn them out from the Gurugram rented premise.

The latest news is that Jyothi's father – Mohan Paswan – has died of cardiac arrest. The death came in Darbhanga on Monday. Jyothi began her cycling on May 7 last year and reached Gurugram on May 16. She decided to carry her father on a bicycle as no train and bus service was available. It took eight days for her to reach her destination. She had taken the decision to cycle all the way for 1200 km on impulse.. Jyothi's feat had touched many hearts and the people showered largesse on her family. Even Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka called her feat a “beautiful feat of endurance.”

Though she was offered a trial by the Cycling Federation of India, Jyothi declined the offer saying that she would rather focus on education. Since his accident, Mohan Paswan was largely confined to bed. On Monday, she suffered cardiac arrest and passed away.
