Kerala Assembly Passes Resolution To Oppose Centre's Agri Bills

God's own country Kerala which is against the controversial agricultural bills introduced by the union government took a step ahead to oppose the agricultural bill trio.

The Kerala State Assembly, which met on Thursday passed a resolution to oppose the controversial agricultural bills. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tabled the resolution, which the House passed.

The Chief Minister said the laws will help only the corporate houses. The Centre should address the concerns of the farmers and the three bills should be repealed.

Referring to the farmers' protest, the Chief Minister said the country is witnessing one of the iconic protests and called agriculture, a part of the culture of the country.

Addressing the house, Pinarayi Vijayan said, Kerala has resolved the agricultural crisis by terminating the co-operative bodies. Post Green Revolution, Kerala set up a minimum price system for the foodgrain farmers.

Kerala is also the first state in the country to come up with the Minimum Support Price (MSP)-based system for perishables.MSP was fixed for 16 varieties of vegetables, the Chief Minister said.
