Telangana: Three candidates including Goreti Venkanna Finalized For MLC Posts Under Governor Quota

The Telangana state Cabinet meeting chaired under the leadership of Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao has finalized the candidate's list for three MLC posts.

The Cabinet has picked candidates from Dalit, Washermen, and Arya Vysya communities under the Governor quota.

Well known folk singer from Telangana Goreti Venkanna was picked from the Dalit community and TRS leader Basavaraju Saraiah and B Dayanand were picked from Washermen, and Arya Vysya communities respectively.

Basavaraju Saraiah is currently serving as a national Washermen Association president, while B Dayanand holds the position of the State Arya Vysya Sangham leader.

The three leaders were nominated in the vacant posts which became vacant after the term of three ruling party MLCs Ramulu Naik, Naini Narasimha Reddy, and K Prabhakar has ended.

Coming to the nominated members, Goreti Venkanna is a renowned poet singer who has won several awards for his work. He has actively taken part in the Telangana movement.

Saraiah was with the Congress in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and even served as Warangal MLA three times. Later he has joined the TRS party after the state bifurcation.

B Dayanand is a former Telugu Desam Party(TDP) leader. After Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, he shifted his loyalty to TRS from TDP in the year 2104.
