Indian origin entrepreneurs are ruling the roost in the UK. Three Indian-origin persons are among the top five richest British entrepreneurs. The rankings published in Sunday Times Rich List show the ascendance of the Indian businessmen in UK.
While Russian origin US dual citizen Leonad Blavatnik remained at the top, Mumbai-born siblings Simon Reubens and David Reuben stood second with an estimated net worth of GBP 21.465 billion. Hindujas , who shared the second position with the Reubens, slipped one place and stod third with a net GBP of 17 billion. Family feud between siblings Srichand and Gopichand Hindujas appears to have dented their fortunes. Steel industry barons, the Mittals stood fifth with 1050 billion pounds. They climbed up 14 notches from 19th place to fifth place this year.
The other Indian-origin billionaires who figured in the top 100 in the UK include metals tycoon Anil Agarwal. He is pegged at No. 15 with a total worth amounting to GBP 9 billion; Sri Prakash Lohia is at 36th position with GBP 4.783 billion; Lord Swraj Paul and family are placed at 82nd position with GBP 2 billion; and Navin and Varsha Engineer are at 96th position with assets worth GBP 1.7 billion.
Come to think of it. Till 75 years ago, the British ruled and looted India. Today, Indians are making it big in the same country and are making their own distinct mark
