Times Now filed a criminal case against it former Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami who launched his own news channel 'Republic TV' recently. This police complaint was filed days after audio tapes related to Sunanda Pushkar's mysterious death were telecasted by Republic TV.
As per the complaint, The audio tapes played during the telecast of Sunanda Pushkar's death story and Lalu Prasad Yadav controversy on Republic TV were actually procured by Arnab Goswami & Journalist Prema Sridevi while they were working for Times Now. So, The telecast of these tapes on Republic TV falls under copyright infringement, breach of trust and theft of property.
Arnab Goswami & Prema Sridevi admitted that they have the audio tapes in their possession since two years while airing the story on May 8th. Times Now alleges Arnab and Sridevi used the tapes for their personal gains. An FIR has been registered under various Sections of IPC and IT Act 2000.
