Following the increasing demand for the mobile number, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) came up with some recommendations to the mobile numbers of India.
These recommendations came after the TRAI took views from people into considerations. As a result, TRAI has decided to start number series which will have 11 digits in India.
TRAI is expecting that the new recommendation will reduce the rising demand for new mobile numbers. As per the estimation of TRAI, adding '9' digit to mobile numbers can result in providing 1000 crore fresh mobile numbers.
As an addition, the TRAI also said that people should add '0' number as prefix to dial a landline. The regulatory came up with these recommendations after holding talks with various stakeholders during an Open House Discussion (OHD)
