TDP Government took the first major step towards implementation of promise made to few castes on reservations three-and-a-half years after coming into power. While Backward Classes have been objecting reservations for Kapus, Scheduled Tribes are against the reservations for Valmiki community.
ST Association Leaders surrounded Minister Kaluva Srinivasulu's house in Anantapur demanding withdrawal of the decision to include Valmiki community in STs. At the same time, Valmiki Association Leaders reached the Minister's residence. Both the groups raised slogans and even a scuffle took place for sometime. Cops intervened and suggested them to bring their views to the notice of Government in a peaceful manner.
On the other hand, CM Chandrababu Naidu held a tele conference to give directions to TDP Leaders over the strategy to be followed at this situation. He offered the responsibility to Kala Venkat Rao, Atchannaidu and TD Janardhan. TDP Supremo asked partymen to convey that Kapu reservations doesn't affect BCs & the decision was taken based on majority vote in Justice Manjunath Commission.
