TRS MLA count would be Zero if YSR was alive

Update: 2013-08-20 08:34 GMT
YSR Congress MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy stated TRS which contested the 2009 polls on Telangana sentiment managed to get only 10 seats. He opined if YS Rajasekhar Reddy was alive the pro-Telangana party's MLA count would have been zero and it would have merged with Congress by now. He asserted the Telangana movement actually took birth only after the sudden demise of YSR in a chopper crash.

Mekapati said leaders like Marri Channa Reddy and K Chandrasekhar Rao took up the Telangana movement only for their political survival and the July 30th announcement by Centre is a result of the separate statehood demand which was raised by few leaders who aspire to become the chief minister of the divided state. He questioned the Telanganites if Seemandhra people didn't contribute to the development of Hyderabad which has now become an role model for other states.

The senior leader found fault with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for giving a letter to the Centre favoring the division of state. He said Telangana wouldn't be a reality if TDP opposed the statehood demand.
