It is now becoming increasingly clear that there is no impact of YSRCP in Telangana politics, especially in Khammam district. The yatra undertaken by YS Sharmila too has no effect. Internal surveys by the TRS have shown that the people of Khammam have totally rejected Sharmila and her padayatra. The TRS, which got the surveys commissioned to assess the vote-splitting potential of Sharmila are said to be deeply disappointed with the results.
The ruling TRS is on a weak wicket in Khammam district. The Congress Party is quite strong and the general voter is veering towards the Congress Party. Effective local leadership and Revanth Reddy's hard work seems to be paying off for the Congress Party. The TRS is said to have tacitly encouraged YS Sharmila in large parts of Telangana, including the all-important Khammam district to split the anti-TRS votes.
However, her impact, as the surveys revealed, is zilch. The survey has also brought out the fact that the crowds attending her yatra are hired crowds and the general public have completely rejected her. It is also revealed that even if she contests, Sharmila might lose badly. The TRS feels that Sharmila does not have the ability to divide the anti-TRS votes in any way.
Sources also revealed that Sharmila's repeated harping on YSR legacy too is unable to make any impact. YSR's reign ended way back in 2009 and four CMs have succeeded him. It has been 13 years and a whole new generation of voters with no memories of YSR has come up. This generation does not have any affinity to YSR. Hence, Sharmila's repeated references to YSR too are creating no impact, the surveys said.
