Will the happiness of the winning corporators in the GHMC elections be short-lived? Will they not be able to enjoy their position and savour their success? Yes, says Congress MP Revanth Reddy.
Revanth Reddy warned the victorious corporators that the TRS was trying to rule the GHMC through backdoor methods as it did not have the required numbers to get its mayoral nominee elected. He said that since it does not have a majority, the TRS might bring in rule by special officers in the GHMC. Thus the special officers can rule for up to two years.
If the special officers begin to rule, the corporators will have no powers and would be mere dummies. As a result, they would not be in a position to help the people in any which way. He charged the TRS with conspiring to subvert the mandate and grab power by wrongful means. On the issue of poor performance of the Congress in the just-concluded GHMC elections, he said that both the TRS and the BJP have conducted a misinformation campaign saying that the elected Congress corporators will join the TRS. He said that even the BJP social media has spread this misinformation.
