The 13th edition of Indian Premier League(IPL) which went through many twists and turns ended on a happy with the IPL Governing Council taking a call to conduct the event this year.
IPL Governing Council chairman, Brijesh Patel reciprocated the same allegedly and said the 13th edition will be hosted by United Arab Emirates(UAE) and said the council will issue an official statement in this regard.
However, the dates and schedules of the Twenty20 cricket league are yet to be announced.
The IPL was first postponed in April indefinitely by the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) in the wake of the spread of the ongoing pandemic and since then there is a lot of confusion of the cricketing event.
BCCI didn't leave any stone unturned to see that the IPL is played in India. The board even gave a thought of playing the edition without fans in the stadium. With, the cases increasing in India, BCCI started looking at other countries to hold the event.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) postponed the 2020 edition of ICC Men's T20 World Cup following the outbreak of the pandemic which paved a way for the BCCI to focus on the IPL.
Going by this news, the 2020 edition of the IPL will mark the second instance where UAE hosts the cricket tournament for the second time. Earlier, UAE hosted 202 matches of the 2014 edition in IPL with the general elections colliding with the match dates.
