What is GHMC mayor Bonthu Rammohan's future now? His term is now coming to an end and with the election of the new mayor on February 11, he would become history. Bonthu Rammohan, who was a well-known student leader in the Osmania University, joined the TRS when it was founded. He remained steadfastly loyal to the party and its chief KCR. In fact, he ensured that a cavalcade comprising large number of supporters travels with KCR every time he left his residence. Impressed by his fierce loyalty, KCR made Bonthu the mayor of the GHMC. But, afterwards, his graph began to fall. He tried for Uppal MLA seat, but failed to secure one. Later, he tried for the MP ticket, but failed again. Though his wife has won as a corporator in the GHMC elections, her becoming a mayor is a remote possibility. Bonthu is trying hard to get TRS ticket for the Graduates Constituencies, but as of now, homes are too dim for him.
To add to his woes, he is also embroiled in several land grab cases and this earned bad name for him. In one case, he was chided by KTR and was asked to stay clear of the land grab incidents. Even in the recent GHMC election, he was nowhere to be seen in the campaign. In view of all these, political analysts feel that his political career has all but ended.
