West Bengal BJP MP Dilip Ghosh's controversial statements on protesters at a public meeting which was held in Nadia district of Bengal has kick-started a quick controversy. Dilip said people who are damaging public property should be ''shot like dogs'' in BJP ruled states.
Union Minister Babul Supriyo responded quick and condemned Dilip's controversial statements.
Babul Supriyo took to Twitter to condemn Dilip's statements. ''BJP, as a party has nothing to do with what a DIlip Ghosh may have said. It is a figment of his imagination & BJP Govts in UP, Assam hv NEVER EVER resorted to shooting people for whatever reason whatsoeverâ¢Very irresponsible of DilipDa to hv said what he said,'' read Babul's Tweet.
In the meeting, Dilip criticized CM Mamata Banerjee ''for not opening fire and ordering lathi charge'' on people who were damaging the railway and public transport property in the protests against the CAA act.
''Didi's police didn't take action against the people who destroyed public properties as they are her voters. Our governments in Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karnataka have shot these people like dogs,'' Dilip said.
The Congress party has also criticized Dilip's comments. Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao took to Twitter to criticize Dilip. ''Mr @DilipGhoshBJP, if that is the case why didn't Delhi Police not shoot like dogs the ABVP/BJP goons who were running amuck in #JNU. The language you use is the language of a bully, out to subjugate people with the might of the government machinery,'' read his Tweet.
