Anil Kumble stepping down as the head coach of Team India citing Indian skipper Virat Kohli as the reason had only exposed the friction between the two. BCCI tried to resolve the issue with consensus but even the board got stunned knowing coach & skipper haven't been on talking terms for the past 6 months.
Interestingly, Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman hasn't given extension to Anil Kumble without any condition. They made it clear to the Leg Spinner that he could continue as coach if all the issues were resolved.
Reportedly, Three separate meetings took place at the hotel where Team India stayed after ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final. First Meeting - Kumble met BCCI and CAC Officials. Second Meeting - Kohli met BCCI and CAC Officials. Third Meeting - Kohli & Kumble were made to sit across a table but it didn't work as there was no communication between the two.
Since Test Series with England got over in December last year, Kohli and Kumble stopped talking to each other. Though Kumble said he had no issues with Virat, he did mention Indian Skipper isn't happy with his functioning in few areas.
