Rahul Gandhi Alleges, He Was Pushed Down By Cops, On His Way To Hathras
The heinous Hathras incident, where a 19-year-old Dalit woman died undergoing treatment after she was gang-raped by a group of men became a debatable issue on the attacks on women in Uttar Pradesh.
AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi who called for a march to meet the kin of Hathras were detained by the Uttar Pradesh police.
The Uttar Pradesh police detained the Brother-sister duo at the Yamuna Expressway. Rahul Gandhi alleged that he was hit with a lathi and in a pushback, he fell to the ground.
Along with the duo, the other Congress party workers and activists, who accompanied them in the march were also detained by the Uttar Pradesh police on the expressway.
After Rahul Gandhi was detained, he indulged in a war of words with the cops and asked on what charged did they arrest him and asked the cops to tell the reason to the media present there.
The party workers and leaders who took part in the march to Hathras have blocked five lanes of the 6-lane expressway on the Delhi-Noida side of the expressway.
The victim in the Hathras incident was assaulted and gang-raped by four men who belong to the upper caste. Her family members found her in the fields with a gash in her tongue. After fighting for life for a fortnight, she died.
