UP victory effect: Ex-MP, former minister planning to join BJP

Update: 2022-03-11 04:35 GMT
The massive victories that the BJP posted in the four states of UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa seem to be having their effect in Telangana. Already two major politicians - a former MP from Khammam and a former minister from undivided Mahabubnagar - have sent enough indications that they would soon join the BJP. These two leaders have been sidelined in the ruling TRS and are trying to reinvent their political future.

On the day when the results of the five states were announced, former Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that the thorns of the “Gulabi” (rose) party were pricking him,  He meant that the rival groups in TRS were inflicting severe pain on him. He said he was in touch with the BJP national leaders and that he would contest the 2024 elections come hell or high fire.

In another development, another disgruntled TRS leader - Jupally Krishna Rao - too is said to be actively considering joining the BJP. He is said to be touring his constituency and meeting his supporters to elicit their opinion on joining the BJP. He has also recently visited Khammam to meet both Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti.

Jupally lost to Harshavardhan Reddy of Congress Party from Kollapur in 2018 elections.  Later, Harshavardhan Reddy joined the TRS. Since then, the party has been giving importance only to Reddy and has completely ignored Jupally. This situation has come to such a pass that the party has not issued membership books to him and has stopped inviting him to party meetings. Finding no alternative, he is said to be actively considering joining the BJP.
