Economist & Banker Urjit Patel who is serving as the RBI Deputy Governor has been appointed as the new RBI Governor. He will succeed Raghuram Rajan who's term will end on September 4th this year. Union Finance Ministry officially confirmed the appointment.
Urjit Patel will take charge as RBI Governor on September 5th and his term will last for 3 years. The 52-Year-Old looked after International Monetary Fund (IMF) between 1990 to 1995 and instrumental in re-engineering of RBI's monetary police structure.
