Urmila Quits Months After Joining Congress

Actress Urmila Matondkar joined the Congress Party in March this year and even contested from Mumbai North Constituency unsuccessfully. Within months, She tendered her resignation to the national party citing 'petty in-house politics'.

In her resignation letter, Urmila complained that concerns she expressed in a letter to Former Mumbai Congress Chief Milind Deora on May 16th wasn't taken seriously. She alleged letter which contains confidential info was leaked to the media and termed this act as a betrayal.

In the previous letter, Urmila expressed her displeasure over the conduct of Mumbai Congress Leaders Sandesh Kondvilkar and Bhushan Patil. She even highlighted the failure of the local party leadership in maintaining good coordination and mobilising workers at the grassroots. On Tuesday, Urmila found fault with Congress Leadership for rewarding those Leaders against whom she complained with new positions instead of making them accountable for poor performance in the Lok Sabha Polls.

Urmila made it clear political and social sensibilities she possess refuse to allow vested interests in the party to use her as a mean to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress.
