Update: 2021-08-07 06:47 GMT
At the time when the United States is battling the Covid pandemic given the fact that the country is a severely hit nation, the chief medical advisor said that the worst days are yet to come.

The fresh Covid cases have once again increased in the United States and the rise in new cases is steady which is worrying everyone.

Reacting to the increase in new cases White House chief medical advisor Dr Anthony Fauci predicted that a new variant of the virus is likely to hit the country which is expected to be more deadly than the Delta variant.

He didn't stop there. Attributing the massive spike in fresh Coronavirus cases in the country in the past few days, Dr Anthony Fauci said the new infections might get increased and reach 2 lakh single day cases in the coming days.

What's even more concerning is that the possible deadly variant is likely to be immune to the current Coronavirus vaccines and the protection offered by the vaccines might also get compromised, the medical advisor said

Stressing about the steady rise in the fresh infections, the medical advisor predicted that going by the increase in new infections recorded in the last few days, the average will be increased at a rapid rate.

He also found fault with the eligible nationals who are not ready to take the vaccine doses and warned them to take the doses.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Head Fauci went on to say that vaccinating the people is a key in fighting the pandemic and questioned how they can tackle the virus when the lion share of people are not vaccinated.

Adding further, he said if people continue to be negligent and won't show up at the vaccine centres, the chances for Covid to spread further and the spoke for the emergence of another deadly variant will increase.

Dr. Fauci expressed his concerns about the possible new variant and wondered what impact it would create if the new variant also comes with a high rate of transmission.

His warnings came at the time when the fresh Covid infections are seeing a massive spike with the nation reporting around 94,000 cases daily on an average over the past week.
