Serious rumblings have surfaced in the Congress Party post the massive drubbing in the GHMC elections. The party has fared very badly winning just two seats â one in Uppal and the other in AS Rao Nagar. In all other seats, the party lost and badly at that. In most places, it even lost the security deposits.
In the wake of the nasty defeat, PCC chief, who has already sent in his resignation in 2018, has requested the party leadership to accept that resignation. But, the question of who will be the next PCC chief continues to nag the party. Sources say that the high command is planning to appoint Revanth Reddy as the next PCC chief. Also, it is likely to appoint former minister Sridhar Babu as the working president, while taking Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to the AICC.
However, the seniors in the party, especially those from the BC groups are dead opposed to Revanth Reddy. BC leaders like V Hanumanth Rao, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, SC leaders like Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka are opposing this move and are holding meetings to oppose the high command's decision. These leaders are now planning to go to Delhi to convince the high command not to appoint Revanth Reddy.
