Uttarakhand BJP Lawmaker Surendra Singh Jeena Succumbs To Covid-19

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which has claimed more than 1,20,000 lives in India resulted in a Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) lawmaker losing his life to respiratory disease.

BJP Lawmaker Surendra Singh Jeena who represents the Salt constituency in Uttarakhand breathed his last breath at Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi undergoing Covid-19 treatment.

The MLA has tested positive for the ongoing pandemic and was admitted to the Sir Gangaram Hospital for better treatment to recover from the Covid-19 virus. Sadly, his wife died a few days back from a heart attack.

BJP leader and Uttarakhand Chief Minister took to social media to offer his condolences to the kin of the deceased Lawmkatker. He said they will stand with their family members. He tweeted in Hindi.

'A few weeks ago, I had visited him when his wife passed away. He was one of the few active MLAs in the assembly and always worked for the development of his constituency. Our prayers are with his family and we all stand with them at this moment of grief,' his Tweet read.

Reports claimed that the Uttarakhand wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) decided to not celebrate Diwali in the state due to the sad demise of the lawmaker.

As of Wednesday, Uttarakhand's Covid-19 caseload stood at 66,788, while 60,900 patients have been recovered from the virus. A total of 1,086 patients have succumbed to the pandemic so far.
