Chandrababu Naidu knows the importance of alliances. Till date, he had never contested alone. He always went for alliances. Whenever he won, he had won because of the alliance partners. He lost when the alliance parterns fared poorly. So, he is now looking to have an alliance with the Congress. But, then, he is also worried about the repercussions. Already there is lot of opposition from within the party and some senior ministers too have voiced their dissent over alliance with the Congress. Babu had to finally issue gag orders to silence them.
It is now being said that Chandrababu's recent meeting with Karnataka CM Kumaraswami was aimed at thrashing out this alliance with the Cngress. He seems to be quite eager and enthusiastic about the alliance with the Congress.
But Veerappa Moily, a senior Congress leader, put cold water on Chandrababuâs plans and had categorically said that there would be no alliance with Chandrababu in AP. Even KVP Ramachandra Rao, a key Congress leader from AP, too was with Moily when he made the statement. It is now being said that even within the Congress, there are strong voices that are opposing an alliance with Chandrababu Naidu. And KVP is the most vocal among them. Even another senior Congress leader had said that there would be no alliance with the TDP. Now Chandrababu is in a kind of fix. Inside sources said that he might use his closeness to Rahul Gandhi to silence the opposition to the alliance within the Congress. But, will a half-hearted Congress be of any help to him in the elections?
