Venakatagiri Raja's Family Scion Appointed As SVBC Chairman

Keeping an end to waiting for over eight months, the new chairman for the Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) which works under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams' (TTD) has been appointed.

The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appointed has appointed former lawmaker Saikrishna Yachendra as the chairman of SVBC.

The former MLA Saikrishna Yachendra is the scion of the royal Venkatagiri family. The royal family, which is popularly known as the Venkatagiri Rajah family enjoys a stronghold in the Nellore district.

The Venkatagiri Rajas who were with the TDP since the party was floated, have shifted their loyalties to YSRCP after alleged differences with some of the TDP party leaders.

Over the past eight months, the SVBC chairman post has been vacant, since the then chairman Prudhviraj who has to resign from the post in January 2020, after an alleged audiotape with a woman employee went viral.
